New academic year has just started. Studies are supposed to be one of the most beautiful times in life of every person.
Unfortunately, for many students from abroad it is also a difficult time when everything seems strange and problematic.
But it doesn’t need to be.
ℹ That is why Welcome Point UW is organizing Cultural Orientation Workshops at which international students at the UW will learn more about Poland, city of Warsaw, culture shock experience, communication in multicultural environment, and plenty more.
📌 The main goal of this free event is to provide newcomers with tools that will ease their life in a new place at the very beginning, when help is much needed.

Drogie i Drodzy,
gorąco zapraszamy do udziału w naukowych warsztatach pt. „Władza a piśmiennictwo i władza w piśmiennictwie w Europie doby humanizmu: koniec XIV wieku – początek XVII wieku”.
ℹ Warsztaty organizowane są w ramach projektu edukacyjnego 4EU+ Alliance „Humanizm europejski: kwestia długiego trwania”.
👉 Jeśli warunki epidemiczno-sanitarne na to pozwolą, warsztaty te odbędą się we Florencji w dniach 12-16 stycznia 2021 r. – koszty uczestnictwa i podróży zostaną całkowicie pokryte ze środków projektu.
👉 Do udziału w warsztatach zostanie zaproszonych 10 uczestników/czek z każdego z 3 uniwersytetów partnerskich: 2-3 pracowników naukowo-dydaktycznych oraz 7-8 doktorantów i studentów.
ℹ Warunkiem uczestnictwa doktorantów/tek w warsztatach jest przedstawienie prezentacji (30 minut) na temat związany z wątkiem przewodnim warsztatów (Władza a piśmiennictwo i władza w piśmiennictwie w Europie doby humanizmu: koniec XIV wieku – początek XVII wieku).
👉 Języki robocze warsztatów to francuski, włoski i angielski – konieczna jest znajomość nie mniej niż dwóch spośród tych trzech języków.
📌 Zgłoszenia – wraz z tytułem i abstraktem (do 1200 znaków w języku prezentacji, tj. po angielsku, francusku lub włosku) należy przesyłać na adres mailowy dr. hab. Jerzego Pysiaka (j.pysiak@uw.edu.pl) w terminie do 18 października 2021 roku.

Dear PhD students,
we warmly invite you to participate in the scientific workshops „Power versus literature and power in literature in Europe in the era of humanism: the end of the fourteenth century – the beginning of the seventeenth century”.
ℹ The workshops are organized as part of the 4EU + Alliance educational project „European humanism: the issue of long duration”.
👉 If the epidemic and sanitary conditions allow, the workshop will be held in Florence on January 12-16, 2021 – the costs of participation and travel will be fully covered by the project funds.
👉 10 participants from each of 3 partner universities will be invited to participate in the workshop: 2-3 research and teaching staff and 7-8 doctoral students and students.
ℹ The condition for the participation of PhD students in the workshops is to present a presentation (30 minutes) on a topic related to the theme of the workshop (Power versus literature and power in literature in Europe in the era of humanism: end of the 14th century – beginning of the 17th century).
👉 The working languages ​​of the workshop are French, Italian and English – knowledge of at least two of these three languages ​​is required.
📌 Applications – along with the title and abstract (up to 1200 characters in the language of the presentation, i.e. in English, French or Italian) should be sent to the e-mail address of dr. hab. Jerzy Pysiak (j.pysiak@uw.edu.pl) by October 18, 2021.

👉 Nadchodzące szkolenie skierowane jest do doktorantów i doktorantek z I roku szkół doktorskich.

finally, we can invite you to a stationary training, during which we will provide you with as much knowledge as possible necessary for the efficient functioning at our university (in Polish only).
By the way, we would like to thank all participants of the two previous online trainings!
👉 Upcoming training is aimed at PhD students from the first year of doctoral schools.
👉 Unfortunately, we have a limited number of places. Please register via the form:
Registration for the training will be open until 11.10 (Monday) until 20:00 (or until the limit of places is reached).
📌 The training will take place on October 12, 17:00-19:30 in room 102 at the Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies of the University of Warsaw (Uruskich-Czetwertyński Palace at ul. Krakowskie Przedmieście 30).

this evening starts the registration for the interactive workshop entitled „Understanding Equality Course” by dr hab. Julia Kubisa (Equal opportunity chief specialist at UW).
You cannot pass by such topics indifferently, so please read the description of this course and consider taking part in it.
👉 The aim of the course is to familiarize the academic community with the issues related to equal treatment.
👉 Participation in the e-course will allow you to gain knowledge, among others about what discrimination is and its consequences, look at your own attitude to the topic of gender equality, and finally – develop your basic response skills in the event of discrimination.
